 The Academic Academy was developed to provide for the needs of our Gifted and Talented Students as well as our academically able. Selection criteria are applied looking at not only the students past academic records but also at their potential. Our aim is to provide a safe and caring environment in which students are constantly challenged.
We also recognise that many of our students have social emotional problems and to this end we have created a mentoring system. Our philosophical aim is that Students are responsible for their own learning and they encouraged through exploring various learning styles which results in personalising their learning. There are high expectations set for the students but they are tempered with support from their teachers and parents.
We have many cultural activities to support our students so that we can extend them into new areas which they may not have experienced.
Although we have students who excel they are part of the wider school community and they partake in many of the opportunities provided by the school. They are encouraged to play a sport or belong to a cultural group. We believe that their gifts should be used by the school community as many of these students have potential leadership roles.
