 Hinengaro Matauranga o te Akonga
The Academy for gifted and talented Maori students commenced in 2007. Parents of Year 8 Maori students and their teachers are invited to nominate students based on criteria which has been set in consultation with both the local community and the Pouwhakataki from the Ministry of Education. Students are placed in an option class to support and extend their giftedness. It is hoped, in particular, that they will develop as leaders amongst their peers.
