A highlight in Te Pae Tawhiti this year for many students were the workshops presented by Action Education, a poets' collective.

Three poets, Ramon, Ken and Rewa, made a strong connection with Year 9s and 10s in a series of workshops in TPT.

Such was the engagement, they obtained funding for a second series of workshops, this time in the Auckland Art Gallery. About 120 students went to the gallery, where they experienced the pieces of art and responded using Spoken Word poetry.

TPT head Penny Bradford said the students loved being in the gallery, and composed some amazing poems, which they then had the opportunity to share in front of the class.

They also enoyed the Gottfried Lindauer exhibition of Maori portraits, which is showing until 17 February 2017.
