Learning from an artistic great

An opportunity that could not be missed saw 11 of our students travel to the Mangere Arts Centre on 24 March for an inspirational event with Tusi Tamasese, director of The Orator and his new film, One Thousand Ropes on. 

We were one of three secondary schools in attendance. 

The session started with the introduction of Tusi Tamasese welcoming our students. Shortly after, the audience was treated to a screening of the film The Orator followed by an intimate question and answer session. 

Students asked questions to which Tusi Tamasese answered by inspiring our students to "tell your story" through writing. "You have to do your 10,000 words" referring to writing until you master your craft of writing. 

There will be another event later on in the year, which we are all looking forward to.
