On Saturday Manurewa High School dance students won their fourth dance competition this year with a first place at the Generation X Unleashed Performing Arts Competition organised by Black Grace performer Nita Latu and her team at the Breakthrough Centre.

Held at the Victory Convention Centre, the theme for this year’s competition was IDENTITY.  Schools were tasked with incorporating Music, Dance, Spoken Word and Multimedia in their performance.  Our 36-student dance crew spent four weeks creating a piece about how society identifies Manurewa High School.

With lots of hard work, and some wonderful input from the creative team, our team placed first.

Our win at the GenX competition makes this the fourth competition won by Manurewa High dance students this year.  Our other successes have been:

1)      SDNZ Mega Schools – Rewa All Stars
2)      Battle All Styles League Schools – Sione Tu’ungafasi
3)      The Project – Salute Dance Crew
