Support for Christchurch

Polyfest Samoan Group On Saturday last our Samoan group visited the Maich Road and Otahuhu Mosques to show their support for our Muslim communities. They wrote messages of support and hope.

Paper Chains Head Girl Porsha Sagote and Head Boy John Chen promoted and executed a Paper Chain initiative in support of Christchurch. During kaitiaki time this week students created interlink paper chains with messages of support. Some of these will be used at the student leadership hui today with the balance delivered to our local mosque.

Memorial Service On Wednesday 20 March Principal Pete Jones, Deputy Principal Lawrence Naicker along with students John Chen, Yasmin Dil Mohamad, Fa’apa’ia Folasa and Khadija Rezai represented Manurewa High School at a memorial service held at Al Madinah School. Colour Your Day Our kura participated in the Christchurch City Council and 24-7YW national campaign ‘Colour Your Day’ on Friday 22 March, in response to the tragedy in Christchurch. Our students and staff wore bright, happy colours or traditional dress, as a way of demonstrating our love and support for all that have been impacted by Friday's events and the Muslim community in Christchurch. We are proud to say that so far we have raised $1044.45.

National Moments of Silence We observed 2 minutes silence on Friday 22 March, 2019 at 1:32pm in honour of the victims and in support of their families, the Muslim community nationwide and Christchurch.
