International Study
Manurewa High School is committed to providing a balanced education for all students and encourages academic, cultural and sporting excellence. International students find their experience of the school to be academically challenging, culturally rewarding and socially enriching.
The school has a national reputation for academic excellence and performance. Students are fully prepared for the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) and other major school qualifications and are also encouraged to enter national and regional competitions. Programmes are available which give credits towards National Certificates awarded by NZQA i.e. computing, technology, office systems, tourism, hospitality and catering and business management.

Programme For International Students
Manurewa High School provides a well structured, highly regarded, orientation and language support programme for ESOL students from non-English-speaking backgrounds. We have reception classes for students who require an intensive ESOL course. Students are mainstreamed when they are ready and we tailor programmes to suit their individual needs.

Student Welfare
The Associate Principal and the Teacher in charge of International Students oversee all pastoral care matters. The Teacher in charge of International Students arranges homestays, and students have the opportunity to be part of a carefully selected New Zealand family. The school also has an extended guidance counselling network.
Extra Curricular Sports And Arts
A wide range of sports are played, and overseas students often participate in table tennis, badminton, tennis and other sports. A number of internationally recognised sports people have attended the school since it was opened in 1960. Students may learn a variety of musical instruments. The school concert band and choir perform regularly, and musicals and stage productions are presented each year. Activities are arranged for international students and students have the opportunity to share their own culture with other students during International Week.

Manurewa High School has agreed to observe and be bound by the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016 Code published by the Ministry of Education and administered by NZQA.
